Learn Lifesaving
Raffles Swim Team provides comprehensive and systematic lifesaving courses in accordance with SLSS Awards Syllabus. Trainees undergo basic lifesaving lessons to advanced lifeguarding training courses to achieve the skills and knowledge to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies. The SLSS Award Syllabus range of lifesaving courses begin from the entry level of Basic Lifesaving 1 Award to Lifesaving Teacher Award. To become a Certified Lifeguard, a participant needs to enrol for a foundation Lifesaving 123 courses; followed by Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Bronze Medallion courses. Upon completion of Bronze Medallion and CPR Courses, the trainee will be able to work as a Professional Lifeguard in swimming pools & meet one of the requirements for Swimming & Lifesaving Instructor Course. Bronze Cross and Silver Cross Courses are for those who wish to work as a Professional Lifeguard in an open water environment. For those who are keen to attain higher level certifications, you may consider Pool Lifeguard Award, Award of Merit, Distinction Award, Lifesaving Instructor and even up to Lifesaving Teacher.

Basic Lifesaving 1
To provide basic land-based rescue skills and knowledge of water safety.
Basic Lifesaving 2
To provide basic land-based rescue skills and knowledge of water safety.
Basic Lifesaving 3
To provide basic land-based rescue skills and knowledge of water safety.
Lifesaving 1
To impart preliminary skills and knowledge of water safety and land-based non-contact rescues.
Lifesaving 2
To develop further preliminary skills and knowledge of water safety, resuscitation and land-based non-contact rescues.
Lifesaving 3
To reinforce skills and knowledge of water safety, resuscitation and water rescue preparatory to the Bronze Medallion.
Bronze Medallion
To establish a basic level of proficiency in knowledge, understanding and practical ability for aquatic rescue situations.
Award of Merit
To establish a higher level of knowledge, understanding and practical ability in aquatic rescue situations.
Distinction Award
To establish an advanced standard of all round knowledge, skills, and ability in aquatic rescue situations.
CPR
To provide practical experience in the lifesaving techniques of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and related emergency care.
Senior Resuscitation
To provide further practical experience in the lifesaving techniques of CPR and related emergency care.
Bronze Cross
To develop lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water conditions.
Silver Cross
To develop advanced lifesaving and emergency care abilities for qualified lifesavers in open water conditions.
Patrol Lifeguard
To develop acceptable standards of knowledge, judgement, skills and physical abilities required of a lifeguard supervising people in open water locations.
Pool Lifeguard
To develop acceptable standards of knowledge, judgement, skills and physical abilities for the supervision of people in swimming pools
Lifesaving Instructor
To develop a level of lifesaving knowledge and teaching ability which is suitable for instruction of classes and assessment of general lifesaving techniques for Lifesaving 1,2,3 and Aquapak Awards.
Lifesaving Teacher
To develop advanced level of competence in the teaching and organization of lifesaving programs at school or club level.
CPR Cross Reg
To provide practical experience in the lifesaving techniques of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and related emergency care.
